My first was Neverwinter Nights 1. I wasn't into RPGs till I actually stopped to read the dialogue lol. That game is a classic. I still <3 it lol.

Thank god Dragon Age came out since NWN2 sucked balls.

You can pretty much close your eyes and point randomly at a shelf in a game store and find a better RPG than Oblivion. That is probably the most boring game I have ever played.

Anyway, my first RPG - that I actually remember - was Dragon Warrior. I was about three and a half when it came out in the US, and my dad and I would play it together every night. I played the original Zelda before that (and we got FF not long after), but Dragon Warrior was the first I remember playing.

We never did finish it when I was a kid; about seven years ago my brother and I pulled out my old NES (that thing is now 21 years old and still works), popped it in, and finished it up.

But that definitely had a big effect on the games I like. Final Fantasy, Chrono, Zelda, Seiken Densetsu, and right now I'm playing the Lunar: Silver Star Harmony demo on my PSP while I kill time until I can run over to work and pick it up (since I know it won't be in for a few more hours).

Sort of ashamed to say it but my first real RPG was Runescape =P. Then it was Oblivion, which in my opinion is UNDER-rated. Best game ever, and I don't care what other people say ^^.

I think my first true RPG that I tried was Diablo I - I didn't like it and only played for about 2 days. It wasn't until Morrowind that I really got hooked on RPGs, before that I was more of a RTS or Shooter gamer. :d

Final Fantasy VII on my friend's PS1.

On the PC, Baldur's Gate 2, closely followed by Diablo 2.

I always had a fondness for the Final Fantasy series, beginning with the NES, that installment of which was my first RPG; unless you count Zelda 1, which is more action than anything else. Good times

I'd have to say one of the Final Fantasy games on the Gameboy. But the first one I really played into when I was aware of what I was doing was Super Mario RPG. Or The Twisted Tales of Spike McFang.
